Poquoson grad Halverson scores 27 points in Christopher Newport victory
Poquoson High School graduate Kelly Halverson scored 27 points in Christopher Newport University's 82-36 home win over conference rival Averett University on Feb. 17, according to Christopher Newport's website.
The senior also recorded four rebounds, two steals and one block for the Captains who improved to 23-2 on the season and 16-2 in the USA South.
Halverson is a 2009 graduate of Poquoson High School where she was a two-time first-team all-Bay Rivers District Selection playing for coach Jeff Gross. She was first-team all-district as a junior and senior while garnering second-team accolades as a sophomore and honorable mention status as a freshman. Halverson was a 1,000-point scorer for her career. She was a member of the National Honor Society, the Future Business Leaders of America and the Fellowship of Christian Athletes. She is majoring in communications and is from Poquoson.
