Dmitri Solga of Poquoson receives NASA Silver Snoopy
Dmitri Solga, of Poquoson, has been awarded the Silver Snoopy Space award for her work at NASA's Langley Research Center.
The Silver Snoopy is presented to a total of less than 1 percent of NASA's workforce. The honor, which is the astronaut's personal award, is given to recognize employees and contractors for outstanding achievements that relate to human flight safety or mission success.
Solga, who is originally from Scotch Plains, N.J., is a graduate of Notre Dame University in South Bend, Ind. He works for Analytical Mechanical Associates Inc., a contractor for Langley.
According to the press release, he was given the award for "exceptional configuration management/documentation management support, enabling the successful development of the Orion Launch Abort System."
Solga received the award from Ricky Arnold in a ceremony held at NASA Langley at the beginning of August. The award consisted of a Silver Snoopy lapel pin that was flown on either space shuttle mission STS-119 or STS-120. A letter and commendation certificate signed by Arnold were also given to Solga.
