Poquoson Lions Club welcomes new member
The Poquoson Lions inducted their newest member, Skip Banton, into the club Aug. 16.
According to a Poquoson Lions news release, the club is one of over 45,000 clubs worldwide and part of an international organization with over 1.4 million members in 206 countries. The club focuses their work on helping the blind, those with diabetes and youth activities.
The Poquoson Lions Club has served the community for 63 years, including hosting the Poquoson High School Leo Club and partnering with the city to provide youth soccer programs.
The club also adapts to the needs of the community, from providing assistance after Hurricane Isabel to helping needy families with basic needs.
Individuals interested in joining the club are welcome to attend a regular dinner meeting. They are held at 6:30 p.m. the first and third Thursdays of the month at the Poquoson Community Center, 49 Odd Road.
