York-Poquoson Red Cross announces Sept. blood drive schedule

Yorktown and Poquoson residents will have six opportunities to donate blood and plasma during the month of September.

The York-Poquoson Red Cross chapter will host blood drives at the following times and locations: from noon to 6 p.m. Wednesday, Sept. 5 at Victory Family YMCA, 101 Long Green Blvd., Yorktown; from 2-7 p.m. Thursday, Sept. 6 at Kroger, 101 Village Ave., Yorktown; from 3:30-8 p.m. Monday, Sept. 10 at Trinity United Methodist Church, 1294 Poquoson Ave., Poquoson; from 1-7 p.m. Thursday, Sept. 13 at Peninsula Community Chapel, 4209 Big Bethel Road, Yorktown; from 2-7 p.m. Thursday, Sept. 20 at Bethel Baptist Church, 1004 Yorktown Road, Yorktown; and from noon to 6 p.m. Friday, Sept. 21 at Ken Mathews Garden Center, 4921 Route 17, Yorktown.

Donors must be at least 17 years old, or 16 with parental consent. Also, anyone donating blood must weigh at least 110 pounds and be in good health.

The chapter is headquartered at 6912 George Washington Memorial Highway, in Yorktown.
