Poquoson Seafood Festival Workboat Races to be held Sept. 30
The workboat races of the Poquoson Seafood Festival will be Sunday, Sept. 30.
The workboat race will being at 12:30 p.m. with a captains meeting which will be followed by a workboat parade at 1:30 p.m. The race will begin at 2 p.m.
Guests will be able to take tours of the F.D. Crocket, a restored ship built in 1924. Tours will be from 10 a.m. to noon on the day of the race. Hamburgers, hot dogs, soft drinks and cotton candy will be available for purchase by guests.
The Poquoson Seafood Festival is a celebration of the Poquoson Waterfront Community. It seeks to preserve the heritage of the Chesapeake Bay working waterman. In addition to guests from a wide geographic area, the festival draws many arts and crafts vendors as well as almost 25 seafood vendors. Guests are able to enjoy a variety of seafood and live entertainment.
The festival runs Saturday, Sept. 29 and Sunday, Sept. 30. It is free and open to the public.
The race will be at Messick Point.
