Poquoson Kiwanis to host shrimp and golf fundraiser
A crab and shrimp feast and golf tournament planned this month by the West Point and Poquoson Kiwanis clubs will help raise part of the $50,000 the clubs award annually.
The golf tournament will begin at 12:30 p.m. Tuesday, Aug. 14, with the shrimp and crab feast scheduled to begin at 5:30 p.m. at the West Point Country Club, located at 4200 Southern Ave., in West Point.
The money raised by the event will help the organization to provide financial assistance to needy families in the community or organizations.
According to Poquoson Kiwanis club's website, Kiwanis is a global organization of volunteers dedicated to changing the world one child and one community at a time.
The Kiwanis Club of Poquoson chartered in September 1974, has since grown to more than 100 members. The club has created a club satellite and initiated and sponsored the Kiwanis Club of Tabb, VA.
