Poquoson native named to dean's list at University of Tennessee
Mary Claire Szukelewicz, of Poquoson, was named to the magna cum laude dean's list for the spring 2012 semester at the University of Tennessee, in Knoxville, Tenn.
To qualify for the list, a student must earn a GPA between 3.65 and 3.79 on a 4.0 scale.
Szukelewicz, who graduated in May, is working on a master's degree in deaf elementary education.
Founded in 1794, two years before Tennessee became a state, the University of Tennessee enrolls over 27,500 students from all 50 states and more than 100 foreign countries. The university offers nine undergraduate colleges and eleven graduate colleges and has campuses in Knoxville, Chattanooga, Martin, Tullahoma and Memphis. Known as the Volunteers, the athletic department's student athletes compete in 21 varsity and 25 club sports.
