Students receive $23.5K in scholarships from Poquoson Education Foundation

The Poquoson Education Foundation awarded $23,500 in scholarships to Poquoson High School graduates.

A total of seven scholarships were awarded. Scholarships for academic excellence were presented to Kevin Chan, Jessica Evans, Anthony Allsbrook, Emily Brawley, Amy West, and Joseph McDonald. The Asher Joseph Goldman Memorial Scholarship was awarded to Emily Brawley. The Keith and Timmy Goodson Memorial Scholarship was awarded to William Emeny and Anthony Allsbrook. The Thomas Family Scholarship went to Hanna Ealey. The Howard Levering Evans and Alva Margaret Stephens Evans Memorial Scholarship was presented to Jessica Diggs. The Roger N. Messier Memorial Scholarship was presented to Kevin Chan and Emily Brawley. The Poquoson Garden Club Scholarship was presented to Jessica Diggs and William Emeny for academic achievement and to Kayla St. Amand for Career and Technical Education.

The funds for the scholarships came from programs and projects held by the foundation. Among these was the Memorial Brick Project. Bricks are being sold which will become a walkway between the main entrance and the gym door. The bricks will be personalized and can be used for remembrances, gifts or to honor someone.
