Local fitness center offers Zumba, RIPPED classes
Poquoson Island Fitness is offering Zumba and R.I.P.P.E.D. classes.
Zumba is an exercise program that that is inspired by Latin dancing. It is high energy and has become popular since it was first introduced in 2001, becoming the largest dance-fitness program, according to a release from Island Fitness. It has easy to follow steps that make the activities fun.
R.I.P.P.E.D., Resistance, Intervals, Power, Plyometrics, EnDurance, is described as the plateau proof fitness formula in the release. It relies on a constantly changing regiment that is designed to prevent the body from becoming too accustomed to the program. The release claims that participants can burn between 750 and 1,000 calories in 50 minutes. R.I.P.P.E.D. makes use of free weights and body weight in combination to create an exercise routine that is safe, fun and effective. The class is designed to stimulate different muscles with changes in activities every six to nine minutes.
