Poquoson boys tennis downs Lafayette
The Poquoson boys tennis team edged Lafayette 5-4 Friday, March 23.
Austin Gillem earned a 7-5, 6-0 win over Connor McGinty at No. 2 singles, and Reed Clifford came through with a 5-7, 7-5, 1-0 (0) win over David Anderson at No. 3 singles.
Tyler Moore picked up a win at No. 5 singles, knocking off Drew Fairbanks 6-2, 7-6 (4).
Royce Bowden topped Allec Gilliam 6-1, 6-0 at No. 6 singles.
Bowden and Tyler Cruz won the only doubles match for Poquoson, beating Anderson and Fairbanks 8-3.
Poquoson improved to 5-0 overall and to 1-0 in district play. Lafayette dropped to 2-1 overall and to 0-1 in district action.
