Arrest made in stabbing at York County motel
York-Poquoson authorities have charged a 39-year-old York County man with aggravated malicious wounding and assault and battery in connection with a stabbing that left another man injured.
Carlos B. Espinosa is accused of stabbing a man at a motel in the 100 block of Bypass Road on Saturday, March 3. Aggravated malicious wounding is a felony and assault and battery are misdemeanors.
According to the news release from the York-Poquoson Sheriff’s Department, deputies responded to the motel about 2:42 a.m. after receiving a call about a stabbing. They found an adult male – not identified in the news release – suffering from numerous cuts.
Espinosa is believed to have known the victim, who was treated at a local hospital and released, the release stated.
Deputies learned the two men had been involved in a confrontation with each other and Espinosa was arrested a short time later.
Espinosa is being held in the Virginia Peninsula Regional Jail.
