Iris Art and Framing Offers Custom Framing Designs
Owner Cathie Abell-Nelson, has been painting, framing and teaching art classes for 15 years in Poquoson, Virginia. Excellent workmanship and customer service are her first priorities, and Cathie handles a large diversity of presentation requests from her clientele. Iris Art & Framing showcases Abell-Nelson's love and value of fine art and she is always discovering new ways to be creative when bringing these amazing pieces to the marketplace.
Iris Art & Framing is not an ordinary framing shop. "We care about the special events in your life and would love to create an enduring heirloom memory for you," says Abell-Nelson.
As an artist, Abell-Nelson believes that strong drawing skills are requisite to fine painting, and her favorite medium, watercolor, can be used alone or in combination with so many other media. She is never at a loss for subjects or class projects to keep her creative students motivated.
Local poets and authors are featured at the Last Saturday event every month with lively discussion and refreshments.
Additionally, Abell-Nelson is active within the community. She has served as President of the Poquoson Business Alliance since 2008, and created the artwork for Poquoson's License Plate and City Merchant Map. Iris Art & Framing received the Retail Alliance 2011 Retailer of the Year Poquoson award.
