Poquoson Presents the 22nd Annual Holiday Open House Weekend

On the weekend of November 4-6, Poquoson Business Alliance member shops and restaurants will be participating in this traditional open house holiday event, with a dazzling display of holiday decorations, gifts, and delicious edibles, giving community shoppers a preview of seasonal fare with a generous helping of holiday spirit.  

The participating merchants, including Iris Art and Framing, will provide refreshments and will be teaming up with participating restaurants to provide samples of their local holiday menus. This year, Iris Art & Framing will co-host with The Briar Patch Tea Room, offering samples of some traditional cold weather comfort food.  Brunswick stew and cheese biscuits top the list!

Customers will be able to shop and visit all day on Friday and Saturday.  On Sunday, the shops will be closed and all participating merchants will gather at the Briar Patch Tearoom where they will wait tables for the Poquoson Kiwanis Spaghetti Dinner. All proceeds from the dinner will go to the local food bank. It is hoped that civic groups and churches will be at the shopping center on that Sunday, helping to raise funds, food, coats and toys for local kids and their families.

“Poquoson will sparkle this year, outside and in!  We hope to have all merchant windows decorated for the Christmas season and lighted boats will grace each entrance into Poquoson,” states Cathie Abell-Nelson, President of the Poquoson Business Alliance, and owner of Iris Art & Framing.
